2020 Fall Camp - Big Sky, MT

2020 MRT Fall Camp - Big Sky, MT

Due to border closures, we are unable to travel to Panorama for our usual Fall camp.  Luckily we have a great domestic option!  Big Sky Resort in Montana offers a great training venue.  We are planning 7 days / 6 nights.  Please review the details below:

Where: Big Sky, MT

When: Nov. 18-26, 2020

We will be limiting van capacity to 6 kids per van.  We will form small groups for van transportation and lodging.  We will have a max of 20 van spots available.

We will be staying in condos with multiple bedrooms.  Each athlete will have their own bed but may be sharing a room.  Athletes will lodge with the same people they ride with for the most part.

All meals are included and will be served from a common dining space at the resort.  Precautions will be put in place by Big Sky to limit overcrowding and ensure needed social distancing.  We will not be cooking or sharing food at the condos.

*Meals are not included for travel days.  This includes breakfast/lunch on Nov. 18, dinner on Nov. 25 and breakfast on Nov. 26.  We suggest packing some snacks for the van.  We will stop for meals as needed.  Please also plan to bring some spending money.

What if I plan to drive and stay with my family?

There are options for lodging near the team lodging for families that plan to join.  Note - this will not be at the same location as the team but close by.

  1. Lodging reservations can be made by calling 800-548-4486 and pressing ‘2’ for the Big Sky Resort Central Reservations Office
  2. Guests will receive 20% off of Vacation Rentals when mentioning the November Race Camp Friends and Family rate
  3. Lodging discounts are only available November 18-26, 2020 and require a two night minimum (deposit due at time of booking)
  4. Skiing will not be open to friends and family until November 26, along with all other resort facilities

The NO Transportation/NO Lodging pricing options should be selected if you plan to drive and lodge on your own.

What if my family wants to free ski the resort?

The resort will not open to the public until Nov. 26.  Unfortunately family members will not be able to free ski the same days as training.  You can always plan to extend the trip and stay through the holiday weekend to enjoy some skiing.

Why is the pricing different for Comp vs. Non-Comp Team?

The 20/21 Comp Team season pricing includes coaching fees.  Those athletes that have already registered for the 20/21 season comp team should select the ‘Comp team pricing’ option.

Camp COVID Protocol

We have implemented the following guidelines and precautions for fall camp to limit exposure and maintain small 'pods' for transportation, lodging, meals and training

1. Transportation - Reduced van capacity and limited stops.  We are doing our best to limit 2 kids per row (families are an exception).  In addition, all athletes must wear a mask when not eating or drinking.  We will limit stops to gas and rest stops.  We will NOT stop for a group meal.  Each athlete should pack snacks/lunch for themselves - NO SHARING

2. Lodging - We have divided our group up into 'Pods'.  Each athlete will have their own bed but in some cases may be sharing a room and bathroom.  Each condo will have a common space for hanging out but athletes will only be allowed to socialize in their own condos.

3. Meals - No meals will be made in the condos.  All meals will take place in the large cafeteria/space provided by Big Sky Resort.  We will adhere to all guidelines set in place by the resort regarding meals.  This may include spaced out seating, shift schedule for meals, etc.

4. On-hill - Face masks will be required in lift lines and on the lift.  Face masks should also be worn whenever within 6 ft. of someone else.  We will adhere to any additional guidelines set forth by the mountain.

5. Training Groups - we will limit groups around 10-12 athletes.  These will be static groups for the most part to limit over-exposure.

5. Testing - we strongly encourage that each athlete get a COVID test within 1 week of departure.  Please provide the test results to John ( or Katy (

6. In the event that one of the athletes gets sick during camp - This individual will be isolated to their own room / bathroom and we will inform the parents/guardians.  A COVID test will be required before returning to training.  The coaching staff will help manage this while in Montana if no guardian is available.
