MRT Annual General Meeting Set 5.29.2008

The Meadows Race Team will be holding its Annual General Meeting on Monday June 9, 2008 from 7:00 – 9:00 PM at the Elephants Downtown Deli. Please make plans to attend join us for a recap of the 2008 Season. A social hour will begin at 6:00 pm.

Good Luck to MRT in the 2008 Golden Rose! 5.29.2008

MRT will have over 20 Junior Athletes participating in the 2008 Golden Rose. The race consist of 2 Slalom Competitions per gender for the weekend (1 M/W Slalom Saturday; 1 M/W Slalom Sunday). The race is being run on the Timberline Summer Schedule with the lifts opening at (ugh!) 7:00 am and the race starting for Women at 8:30 am.

 

Meet Coaches Shuck/Hay in the Wy’East Lodge by the Fireplace at 6:30 am each morning. Registration opens at 6:30 downstairs in the Wy’East Lodge. MRT Coaches will have Athlete Bibs. Remember that Tickets will have to be purchased because the PNSA Elite Pass and Fusion Pass are no longer valid.

USST Physical Assessment 5.23.2008

MRT will be participating in the Spring USST Physical Assessment Program on Monday May 26th from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm at the track at the Mt. Hood Community College (17th Street SW Entrance off of Kane Street). You will need to have your running shoes, LOTS of water and be prepared for a four hour show.



Thanks for the Great Season! 5.16.2008

Thanks for a great season with MRT!Over 130 MRT Racers, Parents and Coaches turned out for the 2008 Family Fun Day at Mt. Hood Meadows on Sunday May 4th. Participants enjoyed a day of Fun Racing and good friends. This was a great year in every respect. Thanks to everyone for their continued support and we are looking forward to another strong year in 2009.

 



Slalom Training at Timberline 5.16.2008

MRT Juniors will be training Slalom on Sunday May 18th and Sunday May 25th up at Timberline in preparation for the 2008 Golden Rose. Meet the Coaches at 8:30 at the Wy’East Lodge. We will ski from 9:00 until noon.

Nicholas C. Burns Wins Contest5.16.2008
Belated congratulations go to Mr. Nicholas C. Burns of the Meadows race Team for correctly naming all of the MRT Athletes who competed at the WR FIS Finals in Park City, Utah this spring. Way to go Burnsy!

MRT Has Strong Showing at May Day! 5.1.2008

May Day 2008The MRT Mitey Mites and J3’s had an outstanding weekend at Mt. Bachelor racing in the 2008 May Day Race. The weather was awesome and our MRT Athletes really stepped it up in all three categories:

 

- Nordic
- Jumping
- Alpine

 

Over 30 MRT skiers competed in the event and we really made a strong showing at every level. This was a fun race and a great way to bring this season to a close. Go to http://www.mbsef.org/results for results.

 


May Day Party Recap 5.1.2008

It is estimated that over 75 MRT racers and parents attended the annual May Day Party and Rib Cooking Contest. Thanks to the hosting families of the event, the Mats, Lisac’s and Reulands for helping to put this all together along with so many other volunteers!

 

This year we had 8 entries into the Rib Competition:

- Mimi’s Marvelous Ribs
- Andrew’s 2nd Place Ribs
- Nootsie (Reisterer/McNabb) Rocking Ribs
- T-Rex Ribs
- Bailey’s Bodacious Ribs
- Lisac Luscious Lip Licking Ribs
- Reuland’s Smokey Ribs
- Jeff’s Surprise

A formal criteria was used this year which included:

- Presentation
- Aroma/Bouquet
- Sauce/Flavor/Taste
- Meat/Texture

 

A maximum of 10 points could be scored in each category. This year the trophy went to the Lisac’s once again! Congratulations to the Steve on this tasty victory!

That’s right! MRT is opening its PSIA/USSCA Level 1 Spring Clinics up to every Club Member. “ Our MRT Racers toughed it out in full-on winter conditions this weekend at Mt. Bachelor and skied to some great finishes” said Program Director Curtis Shuck. “This was a great way for these athletes to close this season”.

In addition to the great racing we had a Special Banquet and Slide Show honoring our Graduating Seniors, all 9 of them! click to enlarge imageWe had over 40 athletes and parents show up at the Mt. Bachelor Village for this first annul event. The MRT Junior Class offered their encouragement and words of advice after watching these athletes operate over the years.
